What changes for Altium Designer users
Altium Designer is now sold as part of solutions with Altium 365. Our answers are based on public information from Altium as of October 2026. We will check with you what applies to your licences.
I have Altium Designer Pro. Do I have to move to Altium Agile?
Not right away: with a valid subscription you receive updates until it ends. For later versions you move to one of the new solutions. Altium Agile is intended for teams that collaborate.
What happens to a perpetual licence?
It remains yours and keeps working in the versions released until your last subscription ended. The subscription for it can no longer be renewed and new versions come only with the new solutions.
Will my daily design work change?
Not fundamentally. You still create schematics, boards and manufacturing data in Altium Designer; Altium Agile mainly changes collaboration and how data around the design is handled.
Will my projects and libraries remain usable?
Yes, according to Altium designs, libraries and processes remain fully compatible. An existing installation cannot be updated directly, though, and we will help you with the required transition upgrade.
What is a Workspace in Altium 365?
A shared team repository for projects, components, revisions and design comments. Both Altium Agile Teams and Altium Agile Enterprise include it.
What does Altium Agile Teams bring to our team?
Several designers working on one board at the same time, workflow templates for part requests, reviews and releases, and live component pricing, availability and lifecycle data. Plus company sign-in (SSO), an audit event log and two-way Jira integration.
Who besides designers can work with the data?
Mechanical engineers, purchasing and production view and comment on the design, BOM and requirements in a browser. Altium Agile Teams adds managed guest access for external partners.
How do I choose between Agile Teams and Agile Enterprise?
It depends on how many teams and systems you need to connect. Agile Teams manages collaboration in a multidisciplinary team; Agile Enterprise adds control across sites and integration with PLM and ERP. We will go through the choice with you.
